We are excited to announce important updates about our highly effective food-grade defoamer, Batfoam FG. This versatile product has recently achieved NSF registration, ensuring compliance with the highest standards for use in food production.
NSF Registration for direct food contact
We’re proud to report that Batfoam FG has received NSF registration for use with direct food contact in the production of:
- Soups
- Stews
- Rendered fats
- Curing pickles
The NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) is a globally recognized independent organization that plays a critical role in establishing public health standards, particularly in the evaluation of chemicals and surfaces that come into contact with food. The organization follows stringent guidelines, using the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) standards to assess safety.
This registration assures our clients that Batfoam FG meets all regulatory requirements and will be accepted by inspection bodies and auditors, such as those of large-scale retail chains.
- Silicone-free: Unlike traditional defoamers, Batfoam FG contains no silicones, eliminating any restrictions on maximum concentration levels.
- No residual impact: The NSF documentation specifies that the concentration of dimethylpolysiloxane should not exceed 10 ppm. However, because Batfoam FG is silicone-free, there are no limits on how much you can use, making it an incredibly flexible solution for a variety of food production applications.
- Natural and vegetal origin of all the ingredients: the antifoaming raw materials as well as the emulsifiers are derived from sunflower oil
- No allergen in formulation! Most of the vegetal derived defoamer are issued from soyabeans, which is a source of allergens. The use of sunflower oil avoids this kind of contamination.
In response to a customer request from Turkey, we conducted a surface tension lowering test on Batfoam FG. The results were astounding. Under specific conditions - at a concentration of 0.5% in distilled water at 20°C - the surface tension measured just 15 dyn/cm, significantly lower than the customer's requested limit of 45 dyn/cm.
This demonstrates Batfoam FG's superior antifoam capabilities. While lowering surface tension can often lead to foam formation, Batfoam FG causes bubbles so small that they collapse immediately, preventing any visible foam from developing.
To keep all our customers up to date, we’ve included these important updates in our Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and added the NSF logo to Batfoam FG’s packaging labels, reinforcing our commitment to quality and safety.
For food producers and manufacturers seeking a high-performance, certified defoamer, Batfoam FG offers a reliable, safe, and effective solution. Contact us today to learn more or to request a sample.
