Our history

Great things come with time.
We are living proof of it.

1963: Birth of the agency of enological of Brescia.

Our story begins a few years ago, in 1963, when Pietro Giacomini founded the Agency of Enology of Brescia (AEB). A few months later, Enzo, Pietro's brother, joins him at the head of the company. From the beginning, the focus is on the production of biotechnology for wine with a range that included products such as stabilizers, clarifiers and fermentation and filtration aids.

Early 80’s: A broader product range.

In the early 80’s, the business expands thanks to the development of products for the treatment and process for aging of wine such as yeasts, enzymes and tannins. The range expands rapidly, integrating professional detergents designed for the food and beverage industry.

1983 - 90‘s: The conquest of foreign markets.

1983 A milestone: Our path to international expansion begins with key foreign markets such as Brazil with AEB Bioquimica Latino Americana. Two years later, the group acquires Spindal, a major French company.
The group continues to expand its operations in the main oenological areas of the world with AEB Iberica in Spain, AEB Bioquímica Portuguesa in Portugal and AEB Argentina.
Ever forward-looking, the group gains access to emerging markets by creating AEB Africa;
while elsewhere in the world, appear 3 new additions to the group: AEB Nordica in Sweden , AEB Hungaria, in Hungary and Spindal Europe Sud in Greece.

1999 - 2006: Acquisition by private investment funds and entry in the beer sector.

In 1999, Pietro Giacomini acquires his brother‘s shares, thus becoming the sole shareholder of the group. Four years later, a majority stake in the company is acquired by two private investment funds, which then take over the management of the company.
During this period, the beer division emerges thanks to the implementation of a dedicated sales network.

2007: AEB develops the ‘consulting‘ services in France.

In 2007, the private equity fund Investindustrial acquires our group.
That same year, AEB further expands with the purchase of Oenologie Immelé and Oeno Service which provide analytical laboratories and specialized wine-making services for the regions of Alsace and Burgundy.

2008 - 2012: the launch of aeb engineering and of new offices in the USA, Chile, Australia and Germany.

In 2008, a key element in our history comes about: the launch of AEB Engineering, a company specialized in the development of equipment for the oenological and food sectors.
It is a time of great change: we continue our expansion process by launching direct sales in the United-States, Chile and Australia, countries that have become essential thanks to our now consolidated sales presence. Thus are created AEB Biochemical USA, AEB Andina and AEB Oceania. In  2010 - O2C  is founded  further to a “joint venture” with the main oenological cooperative in Champagne. O2C offers analytical and consulting services to local producers. The following year, the same is done with a cooperative of local producers in Jura: Oeno Jura.
In 2012, AEB Deutschland our German subsidiary is founded and Minalite, a Spanish company which produces diatomaceous earth joins the group.

2014: Mario Tomasoni at the head of AEB.

Mario Tomasoni is appointed CEO of the group, responsible for leading the new industrial strategy.

2015: Birth of AEB France and inauguration of the showroom.

In 2015, the French companies Spindal and Oenologie Immele merge into one company: AEB France. Meanwhile, the investment fund SK Capital Partners acquires a majority stake in the group.
That same year, a new showroom is inaugurated at the Brescia headquarters: 300 m2 of elegant and linear design to showcase our equipment. This ambitious project proves to be of great value to our customers, who can now touch and better understand the use and effectiveness of the machines as well as the various solutions we offer.

2017: INNOTEC has joined our Group.
AEB acquires the majority share in Innotec Innovative Technologies Srl, a company offering advanced plant solutions in the field of enology and beverages. Innotec, besides continuing the production of equipment that has made the company famous in the world of plant engineering, will develop, together with AEB, new technologies for the oenological sector in order to optimize the management of cellar operations.
Thanks to this strategic operation, AEB range will become one of the most complete and innovative in the sector of wine and beverage.

2018: Apax Partners acquires our group from SK Capital.
Apax Partners, a private equity company based in Paris, leader in the European market, reached an agreement with SK Capital to acquire 100% of the company.

2019: The birth of AEB SHANGHAI and the acquisition of DANMIL.

After more than 15 years of technical-commercial activity, the presence of AEB in South-East Asia is consolidated thanks to the birth of the new Chinese associated company, based in Shanghai. The objective of the Group is to further develop the beer, wine and beverage markets in both China and Southeast Asia.
In addition, the product portfolio and the company know-how grow thanks to the acquisition of the majority stake of DANMIL, a Danish company leader in Europe in the filtration sector. With this acquisition, AEB enriches its catalog with high quality microfiltration products, improving its offer of advanced solutions in order to help wineries and breweries producing the best possible products, from harvest to bottling.
